Happy Birthday to Me! I turn 31 today and I’m so freaking excited about it! I sound like a broken record but I find aging to be a privilege. There are people out there who are not fortunate to age or live a long life. So why see aging as a burden if ultimately we all want to be alive and well. If I’m being honest, I’m still at risk of not living a long life. Thank you cancer for that. So every birthday I reach is a milestone and I will celebrate it! No shame with my age.

A Birthday Post?

I really don’t have anything special planned for this post except to say it is my birthday! Haha! At first, I thought maybe it should be a theme? I saw a blogger share their favorite things, but then I realized sharing 31 of my favorite things (i.e. movie, color, candy, etc) seems a bit obnoxious. I don’t even know if you all cared to know? Maybe you do?

Looking Back

I really love how last year I shared my 30 Things I’m Glad I Did for my 30th birthday post, and I still stand by each one of them. They’re nothing major or “big”, but in the long-run they made a significant impact on my life. And yes, I’m wearing this birthday girl tee again. I probably have worn this same tee for 4 years in a row (2015, 2017, 2018). The only time I didn’t wear it was my 28th birthday (in 2016). But hey, I just had chemo a few days before and getting ready for a birthday shoot was the least of my worries.

All I can say, is that this past year I worked really hard on myself, mentally and physically. I’m proud of that. But I will admit that some days I am not proud of myself. I’m human, and I definitely can be hard on myself. Overall, I feel good about myself and where I am in life. After all, I gained the courage to be content with challenges and had the courage to chop my hair!

Birthday Celebration

So tonight, keeping it low key and Tre & I are going out for dinner. I LOVE Sushi, and Chicago has so many well-known spots (I’ve been actively crossing off each one of these places) and one of them is Naoki. Which I have never been to. I hear it is a really small restaurant, small menu, but the food is AMAZING.

This weekend, my parents are coming to the city and we are going to Chinatown for Dim Sum. Mmm it’s been awhile since I indulged in dim sum and I can’t wait!
